New version of google talk, available to be downloaded from here, is being released today according to a post on Google blog. Some of the major features added are:

File transfer: Yes, after a long wait google talk has now added file transfer facility. So now you can share any type of file.

Voice mail: Google talk now allows you send voice mails. So now when you in a hurry to type you can send voice notes to you friend anytime.

Music Status Sharing: Now your friends can see the tracks you are listening too, with this feature. At the moment the only supported players are iTunes, Window Media Player, Winamp and Yahoo Music Engine. Owing to this I think Google might be coming up with its very own media player in near future, but this is my own speculation.
