5 Reasons To Use CSS

1. The content is separated from the design
Because you are able to create a separate Stylesheet and link it to all your webdocuments, you have great control over how your website looks. So if you want to change a certain aspect of your page, you only need to alter one file: your Stylesheet!

This Of course, generates some great flexibility. This flexibility is not available when your website is using tables for layout, inline font tags or inline defined colors.

A single CSS file can contain positioning, layout, font, colors and style information for an entire web site.

Is YouTube about to die?

Posted by Simon on August 27th, 2006 in Links, Opinion | 1 Comment

YouTube.comWell, Valleywag thinks so. And gives some reasons, like:

Its competitors pay you money. And someone else is doing better, as the Internet video scene becomes a series of YouTubes. Revver slaps an ad at the end of each video. The person submitting that video gets half the revenue. Blip.tv is starting its own 50/50 split. Both beat the hell out of YouTube’s 0% split.

Do you agree? Read the the blog entry here and make up your mind.

Technorati turns 3 and gives us a brand new design

“Three years ago this month, Technorati was officially incorporated and became a “real” company, moving out of the “science project” phase of its life. Since then, so much has happened- not only has Technorati grown and changed, so has the live web. When I first started Technorati, my primary concern was how to be of service to a growing universe of bloggers, which then numbered in the thousands. Today, we’re tracking about 50 million blogs and we’re increasingly including other forms of citizen media, including photos and video,” Dave Sifray, founder and CEO of Technorati, said in a post at the company blog.

So what do you think of the brand new design?

BidVertiser now paying three times as much

Posted by Simon on August 27th, 2006 in Make Money | No Comments

Bidvertiser sent this email out to all of their publishers yesterday announcing they are now paying three times as much as before:

We are proud to announce that the average amount paid per click over the BidVertiser network has nearly tripled! We fully expect this amount to continue to rise in the months to come.

Furthermore, you can earn even more per click simply by increasing the number of views that you give to your BidVertiser ads. The more views you have, the higher your payout will be!

Link thumbnails instead of ordinary links

Posted by Simon on August 27th, 2006 in Links, Softwares and Tools, Web Design | No Comments

Why not show your visitors a little thumbnail of the linked site when they hover over one of your links? It is so much cooler than ordinary plain links. Don’t you agree? Arc90 labs have a simple way to implement this using java and and css.

A little bit JavaScript, a little bit CSS and a little bit clairvoyance, Link Thumbnail shows users that are about to leave your site exactly where they’re going. When that curious mouse pointer hovers over a link pointing to somewhere outside of your site, the script displays a small image of the destination page. It’s a nice visual cue that serves a very real purpose: providing a clearer picture (no pun intended) of what’s ahead.
