Set up a podcast

If you have a popular blog, it could be worth making a podcast. People arn’t going to sit at a computer screen reading tons of posts, though they may load it onto their zen and take it on the road, when they have nothing better to do.

Firstly, podcasting is not for all blogs. If your blog posts have heaps of info, and is regually updated, and gets heaps of hits, podcasting is for you. A personal blog though may not be for you.

There are a few ways that you could set up yor cast. You could either record it yourself by using the inbuild microphone in your zen, or just record it straight onto your computer using a mic. the ot her way is to use a text to speech podcasting tool. You just signup, give it your blog XML feed, and it will create a podcast from your posts. Personally, I think the “do it yourself” approach is the best way, becuase I can tell you that after a little while, that text to speech voice gets really annoying.

The tool to do it the text to speech way (the lazy way), is to signup at http://www.feed2podcast.com.

The non lazy way is to record it yourself, as I said before. This is much better IMHO, becuase people arn’t just listening to a text to speech voice (which gets boring after a little while), and it just isn’t exactly what your posts are. You can talk about anything to do related to your blog, or not. To do this manually though, you should host it yourself and get a script to set it up for you. Look on hotscripts for some good scripts (different ones for different needs).
