Portfolio: Environment Blog

Posted by Simon on September 29th, 2006 in Uncategorized

Okey this is my second attempt to create a portfolio here at Easy Webbers. You can find my first portfolio entrance here.

This is another blog. It’s a blog which is seeding and posting “green” news and other stories, sites, videos and more. Yes. You are correct; this is an environment blog!

The domain for this blog is: http://www.green-blog.org

Here is a screenshot of the site:

Green Blog

What I really think turned out great was the header and logo. I think they were mixed in perfectly to each other. The text “greenblog” and that dark green butterfly is actually the logo. The other butterflies in the lighter green colour are actually not part of the logo. So what do you think of when you see this header + logo? Maybe you see the “green” news spreading further and further away (in a positive way that is :P)? Or maybe you see all the “green” news coming in and landing on one spot, the Green Blog?

Because it’s an environment blog I use the colour green. I believe that’s just the right way. Green represents so much, “freshness”, peace, joy etc. The white colour I there because it’s easer to read a black text on a white background. But, you can think of it on a higher level. The white colour can represent the innocent and maybe that there does (?) exist a bright future?
But I must admit that recently I have had thoughts about going with a lighter green colour. Maybe something similar to my “take action” boxes you can find in some of the posts.

Now I want to hear your thoughts about the blog and the design. Hit Me! :)

Nice and clean , but pretty basic, perhaps the header should be seperated from the content more, perhaps a green header with white text would do it ?

I like the way you make borders using background images
