Grazr

Posted by Usman Ilyas on October 30th, 2006 in Free Stuff, Links, Softwares and Tools | No Comments

Grazr is a free JavaScript based that lets you put your feed on a webpage, and nice thing about it is its quite fast.

RSS feeds are great, but the subscription model used by aggregators is slow and clumsy. After a while, it gets to be too much trouble to subscribe to more feeds. That’s why grazing feeds is becoming so popular. Grazr lets you view as many feeds as you want without the hassle of subscribing. Grazr users can freely jump from feed to feed. It’s like surfing on a river of feeds.

This study is actually really interesting. It tells that only an extremely small number of people change their default browser text size.

…about 99.7% of visitors use the (default) Medium text size setting. Roughly 0.1% of visitors choose a text size smaller than Medium, and 0.2% of visitors choose a text size larger than Medium.

Web Hosting: How to Make the Right Choice

Posted by Guest Author on October 19th, 2006 in Webhosting | 1 Comment

There are several important steps to consider when choosing a web hosting company. It is important to carefully choose a company that is able to offer all the features required by a Webmaster.Do not be tempted in selecting a company purely on the price. Today hosting is cheap and the competition is strong to attract new customers.

Do some research with independent reviews of hosting companies you are interested in. See what type of reviews they have, paying special attention to their performance. How much time were they off the air off for example? Look for their uptime figures. Do a comparison with several companies.

How easy is it to get support from them? Many web hosting companies now have instant messenger service, which can offer instant answers to simple problems as well as email, phone, and fax, but normally receiving answers from these methods will be slower.

Posted by Simon on October 18th, 2006 in Make Money | 1 Comment

Performancing has just released their new ad network for bloggers. You can now sign up as a publisher or advertiser.

The banners are 125×125 banners with a text box when your mouse hover the banner. You can see an example of the banner code over at Green Blog (in the right sidebar). You can have up to 6 ads on your site. Minimum is one ad.
You will get 70% of everything generated from the ads and Performancing will take 30%.

If you refer anyone to the program you will earn 5% of what he or she generates, forever. That is kind of nice!

After 48 hours you will be able to manually set a price for the ad or you can let Perfomancing decide how much you should get payed.
