Converting “Traffic” to “Leads”
There are many different factors that must be considered when developing a successful website and online marketing campaign. A few of the factors that need to be considered are the following- Graphical Layout, Web Design, Relative Content, Logical Layout, Exposure, and Non-Intrusive Lead Generation. Below is a brief description of each of these factors and what to look for to determine if you have all these factors working for you.

Graphical Layout
The graphical layout of your site would be the graphical details of your site working together to create the right mood and visual appeal. Photos displayed on your site should be crisp high quality images. Web surfers in general respond better to uncluttered sites with readily available information that they are looking for.

Did you know that the colors of your website have a huge affect on how your website visitors perceive your site and services?
Careful consideration must be taken when selecting the color schemes for your site. The color combinations that you use invoke mood. If you set the proper “mood” for your website you will increase the click through rates, visit durations, and ultimately the amount of inquiries you get from your site.

CSS: Customize Your Links

Posted by Guest Author on October 13th, 2006 in CSS | No Comments

For links there are 4 different options which you may already know, you have the standard link colour, you have the colour of the link when the mouse passes over it, you have the colour of the link once it has been clicked and you have the colour of an active link (while you have pressed the mouse on the link).

When writing these codes down many people have discussed about the order they should be written in, when a browser looks at a code it reads the top line first and works its way down, just the same as we read. I have seen many people ask about what order to put these attributes in and here is the correct way:

Is Dmoz listing a test of patience?

Posted by Guest Author on October 12th, 2006 in Opinion, SEO | No Comments

Dmoz is always viewed as the key to get higher traffic and increased PageRank for your website. Webmasters and online business owners aim for a Dmoz listing with the faith that it can help their sites rank well on the search engines especially in Google - since Google uses the information contained in the Dmoz directory. This is the driving force that leads them to the idea of getting their sites listed in Dmoz. But is it true that getting listed in Dmoz is a test of patience and perseverance?

Getting listed in Dmoz may take a long time - or forever as others have put it. Therefore, it is indeed a test of your patience and perseverance as a webmaster. The listing may take longer than you actually expect it to be. This leads to the common question that haunts webmasters and online business owners that have submitted their sites to Dmoz.org is this: When will my site be listed in Dmoz?

Google buys YouTube

Posted by Simon on October 11th, 2006 in Opinion | 5 Comments

I think by know we all know that Google has bought YouTube. I will not make this post to a long discussion about this. I just want to share some of my thoughts about it.

Personally I think its bad news that Google buys YouTube. What we see know is one big company taking over other popular sites to gain more power. Google is getting a bigger a bigger monopoly on the Internet and like we all know monopolies are never good for the users or buyers.

I know Google might help YouTube get better features and all kinds of stuff but I still wanted to see YouTube as an independent choice towards Google Video.

No matter what a lot of you Google fan boys and girls out there think I believe Google is slowly changing from a cosy and friendly company to one of those big companies that can step over dead bodies to reach their goals (like Exxon, Microsoft etc). So you want evidence, huh? Okay, one of the biggest changes recently in Google’s culture is that they (like Yahoo) have censored their search engine results for traffic coming from China. Will Google now censor certain videos for YouTube’s Chinese users? No one knows, but it could happen.

Monopolies are bad no matter who is running it.
