The Internet is threaten by collapse

By Simon on March 7th, 2007. Published in Interviews, Opinion.

IT-expert Jon Lindén from Procera Networks says in an article from DN.se (a swedish newspaper) that the capacity of the Internet must be upgraded. Lindén thinks it needs some major upgrading this year or the Internet will collapse.

-There is over one billion users and it’s the video services (like YouTube) that grows the most and they consume unbelievable much bandwidth, says Jon Lindén.

Last time the capacity of the Internet was upgraded was in 2000. Back then there was no one who believed that the technical development would come so fast and consume so much bandwidth. There needs some major upgrades in the two coming years. These upgrades will cost a lot of money and Jon Lindén thinks users like you and me will need to help pay for the upgrades in some way or another.
